Hidden Symbolism in Logo Design

While most of what we see in logo design feels incredibly simple or easy, people often forget that’s the whole point of a logo. It’s meant to be easy to visually digest and recognize from both close up and far away.
But when designers are able to balance this simplicity while still creating a full story, a simple logo becomes a product of genius visual storytelling. Being able to convey a message that’s hidden in-front of the viewers eyes, sometimes going unnoticed for decades before people ever see it.
It’s done in a variety of ways, using focal points to draw our eyes in one direction, shapes meant to cleverly replicate a certain thing, or using negative space and letting the viewers brain fill out the rest themselves. It’s all examples of how great ideas don’t need to be visually dense to still tell a story.
The simpler you can tell a full story, the better.
